At Hickman, Ulsch, McFaul & Wright, P.A., the individual attorneys have brought together their unique talents, skills and experiences to form a single firm designed to obtain the best possible result in any given situation. Prior to the formation of the firm, each of our attorneys achieved success in a variety of settings. Thomas Hickman served the citizens of Carroll County and the State of Maryland for 20 plus years as the State’s Attorney for Carroll County. For 18 of those years, Edward Ulsch worked as a front line prosecutor in Tom’s office and served as the Deputy State’s Attorney for 14 years. Christy McFaul Saunders worked for the Circuit Court for Baltimore City prior to joining Tom’s office as an Assistant State’s Attorney. She later became the District Court Division Supervisor for the Frederick County State’s Attorney’s office. Phillip Wright spent several years working for a longtime, downtown Baltimore defense firm handling a wide variety of cases and later opened his own successful law practice. This collection of unique talents and varied backgrounds began to be brought together when, in 1995, Tom and Ed formed a partnership and the firm was born. Success brought growth and Christy joined the team in 1996. Finally, Phil merged his practice into the firm in 2001 to fill out the firm’s current composition.

Our offices were originally located in a small space at 16 North Court Street here in Westminster. As more space was needed, we moved our offices to 2 North Court Street. Finally, we obtained our own building and moved to our current, convenient location here at 231 East Main Street, Westminster, Maryland 21157. While our building provides a comfortable atmosphere for the handling of our clients’ legal needs, we also offer in-home visits and meetings at other locations as the need arises.
